Eating Well - One Step on the Path to Wellness

citrus_med.jpgAs a Lake Worth chiropractor, Dr. Jack Cacic believes that quality chiropractic care and wellness can transform your body from one that is struggling to function to one that is operating at optimal health. Perhaps you are suffering from neck pain, back pain or headache. Proper nutrition and eating right is just one step on the path to wellness that results in living pain free and with vitality. The following are some tips that can help you begin to eat well and provide your body with the nutrition and sustenance it requires to function properly.

Eating Well - Tips from Dr. Jack Cacic Chiropractic

Drink plenty of water. Water is essential to the human body. It is required to hydrate each cell so that it functions optimally, it helps us digest food and distribute the nutrients to our body, it reduces fatigue and headaches, gives us energy and can aid in weight loss. Most experts agree that you should drink between six and eight glasses of water a day.

Eat fruits and whole grains. Fruit and whole grains are rich in fiber. A diet high in fiber can lower cholesterol, improve bowel function, regulate blood sugar and can aid in weight loss. The American Dietetic Association recommends adults consume 20 to 35 grams of fiber daily.
Take a daily supplement. Even if you think you are eating a well-balanced diet, chances are you are not getting quite enough of some vital nutrients. By taking a daily vitamin you can cover all your bases and make sure that your body is getting exactly what it needs to perform.
Eat lean protein. Lean protein sources such as chicken, fish, some cuts of pork, tofu and others are high in protein that is needed by the body to slow the body's absorption of carbohydrates and to provide the fuel necessary to create red blood cells. About 15 percent of your daily calories should come from lean protein sources.

These are just a few suggestions on how to incorporate proper nutrition into your daily diet. For more information on nutrition or to receive a customized nutrition plan, make an appointment with chiropractor Dr. Cacic at our clinic in Lake Worth.
